Challenge
I was one of two UX designers creating the UX design for an internal customer data application that would help Microsoft sales employees manage their information. This would be the first app of its kind at Microsoft, replacing an informal collection of sites and tools used by individual employees to provide the knowledge they were looking for.
Given the amount of information being conveyed readability and customization were key for this project. The tile based layout allowed for the user to easily read our “best fit” default layout or adapt their experience to suit their own needs.
Methodology
I was responsible for the design and creation of high fidelity mock-ups that could be presented at stakeholder meetings. I created these pages using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Below you can see a selection of pages I worked on.
Result
Although creating such a data rich application that underwent almost weekly changes in scope and requirements was very difficult, it lead to a design that I am proud of. I worked closely with my fellow UX designer refine my ideas and make sure only the very best was brought before stakeholders. We had daily "design debates” where we would each take what the other had worked on the day before and examine/critique it.
